The Kenyan representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Nairobi United will host Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the CAF Confederations Cup scheduled for Sunday at Ulinzi Sports Complex from 3PM.

The FKF Premier League newbies are competing in their maiden CAF Confederation Cup after lifting the 2024/25 Mozzart Bet Cup while still in the National Super League (NSL).

Naibois will face Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS) in their final two-legged preliminary round, the Kenyan side hosting the first leg before travelling for the return leg a week later.

Nairobi United sealed their passage to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after holding Ugandan side NEC FC to a 1-1 draw in Nairobi, advancing on aggregate score tied at 3-3.

After an intense first leg that ended 2-2 in Uganda, the Kenyan debutants knew they needed to stay composed at home against a spirited NEC side looking to capitalize on any mistakes.

Despite late pressure from the visiting club, Nairobi United held firm to protect their away-goals advantage and confirm their historic progression.

This marks a significant milestone for Nairobi United, who are featuring in continental competition for the very first time.

The FKF Cup champions are largely viewed as the underdogs in the tie. However, they are ultimately headliners who defied all odds as they shocked the country by lifting the domestic cup as National Super League champions, becoming the second lower-division side in 18 years (after Sofapaka in 2007) to achieve the feat.

Étoile Sahel arrived in Nairobi, ahead of their meeting with Naibois in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) relocated the match from Nyayo National Stadium to the Ulinzi Sports Complex  following increased activities occasioned by the announcement of the death of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
