The Nairobi City County Chief officer in charge of Environment Geoffrey Mosiria moved in to rescue a young child who has been living in the streets over an alleged assault by his alcoholic parent.
In a video, that was posted widely on social media, Mosiria was seen pleading with the young boy, aged around 10 years to discard contents in a plastic bottle, reportedly an illicit content as he sought to secure a place for him in one of the childrens home located in Nairobi’s Kangemi area.
“I secured this child from the street today where he has been living after running away from her drunkard mum. It is important that we consider such needy cases and help the children who otherwise might end up with a ruined future just because of a drunken parent,” Mosiria said.
The chief officer who was doing rounds in the downtown areas of the CBD came across the young boy and enquired why he was living in the streets before the story touched him, prompting him to find a solution.
Mosiria was even seen buying new cloths and a pair of shoes for the boy in readiness to move him to a rescue place and get him back to school calling on the boy’s relatives to reach out to him and join in the reform journey for the boy.
“Because of a toxic mother, this boy ran away from home and is now on the streets where they are consuming jet fuel to stay high as they need intoxication. It is a very sad affair so I have chosen to rescue him and I am calling on the relatives to come out and join me to help this young man,” he said.
