A South African National accused of defrauding Shayona Apartments Ltd Sh750,000 has again promised to pay but this time round told the court that CBK is processing the cash.

This comes after the accused Groenewald Christoffel Petrus consistently lied to the court on various occasions that the money was being ‘ processed’ and was not yet ready for him to pay the hotel bill.He told the court that his boss Rubi Foundation was expecting money from CBK.

He again through his lawyer launched more excuses to the court after it was obvious that the prosecution had arraigned a key witness to testify against him.

” We intent to pay this month, CBK is processing the payment, we ask for another chance,” the accused person through his lawyer told the court.

The Magistrate agreed his excuses and it is believed that the prosecution is planning to hear his case in a day to compensate for the time lost through his adjournment if he fails to pay before the next court session.

He appeared today before Senior Principal Magistrate Samson Temu who has on different occasions advised him to clear his bill and accomodation’s bill.

In court he has so far denied the charges and is out on bond.

According to the charge sheet , the accused person committed the offence between December 2023 and 2024 alongside others not before the court in Parklands within Nairobi County.

According to a police report, Petrus allegedly walked into Shayona Investment Hotel in Parklands and claimed that he was a long term investors.

He is said to have for months and accumulated a total bill of Sh759,920 and failed to pay.

He however failed to pay and after severally promising to pay and later failed the matter was reported to the police and later arraigned.

The Magistrate directed that the case should proceed on December 11.
