CEMIRIDE in partnership with Lutheran World Federation (UPR) today convened a media round table to discuss issues relevant to refugees and host communities as part of the upcoming 4th cycle of Kenya’s Universal Period Review 2025.
The training attracted journalists from all over the country and were educated on the UPR process in the hopes of positioning them as a critical stakeholder in advancing the rights of refugees and host communities in line with the recommendations that Kenya has previously accepted.
The training was successful and the main objective was to educate and inform journalists on the correct way of reporting refugee stories and not to stigmatize minority groups but to report with compassion.
