Land Grabber on the Spot for Mobilizing Youths to Cause Chaos in Nairobi amid Court Case

Nairobi’s Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have strongly criticized attempts by a private developer to grab public land, causing tension in the city. The disputed land, identified as 209/12612, is designated for the construction of a modern market for the benefit of the public.

The developer in question is serving MP for Kiambu Town, Waithaka Macua, who is allegedly mobilizing young people in the Likoni road area to incite violence and chaos in South B. This move is seen as an attempt to suppress local residents who are opposing illegal developments on the plot.

Led by MCA Waithera Chege, the MCAs have pledged to protect the land and resist any attempts by violent land grabbers to intimidate them. They emphasize the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that public land remains under the custody of the county government.

Chege highlighted that the lands and planning committee had previously requested the county executive to revoke any title deeds issued for the disputed land until the matter is resolved in court.

“It’s time to bring this City in to order, we know the Kiambu town MP Macua is trying to use serving legislators in Nairobi to try get the land, but we know all your tricks. Stay away from this matter until the court gives its determination,” Waithera said.

She called on Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration to safeguard public land and maintain a comprehensive register of lands designated for public use.

Further, Waithera urged the land grabber to refrain from further actions until the court makes a final determination on the matter.
