Nairobi County MCAs Pass Motion to Establish Broadcast Services

Nairobi City Members of County Assembly have today sailed through a motion which seeks to establish a county owned broadcast unit to disseminate information regarding the devolved government.

Moving the motion, the Deputy Minority Whip Joyce Muthoni noted that the county will spend over half a billion Kenyan Money on advertising and if the motion will be implemented, it will create jobs while saving the county government millions.

“This motion will be a boost to the county government, the MCAs and also the Nairobi County residents. We will have a customized platform where Nairobians will not to need to queue for long hours to access services but will access the services from the comfort of their homes or businesses,” Hon. Joyce Muthoni told the House.

Muthoni adds that the television, radio and the online platform will have professionals who will provide long-term stored and accurate information regarding the county.

Lauding her colleagues for passing the motion unanimously, UDA nominated MCA Muthoni promised the benefits they will acquire will be enormous including updated track records of various developments in the wards.

“Generations to come will be able to know that this 3rd Assembly existed with evidence from the established press unit,” she added.

She also stated that broadcast policy also seeks to establish the gubernatorial Digital press unit, County TV and Radio Broadcast directorate and Customer service.
