Nairobi, 28th June 2023: Nairobi Governor H.E Hon. Sakaja Johnson today toured the Giga Central kitchen, off Mombasa Road, today to check the site progress.
The kitchen by Food 4 Education, Nairobi County’s School Feeding Program, Dishi Na County, partner will serve over 60,000 nutritious meals per day. Upon completion, the the kitchen will supply food to the surrounding schools that will provide a solution that effortlessly connects nutrition and education.
Nairobi County broke ground for ten kitchens last week. Construction is ongoing in: Makadara-Bidii Primary, Kasarani –Njiru Primary, Westlands- Farasi Lane Primary, Kibra-Toi Primary, Roysambu-Roysambu Primary, Starehe – Racecourse Primary, Dagoretti North-Muthangari Primary, Embakasi Central-Kayole One Primary and Ruaraka-Baba Dogo Primary.
The School Feeding Program ‘Dishi Na County’ will ensure the children will get well nutritious meals to curb malnutrition and encourage school enrollment. The County is target ting to feed 250,000 children in public primary schools and ECD Centres from behind g of third term.
