Coaches from Homabay County based football academy the Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) have hailed the ongoing the Confederation of African Football (CAF) courses that continue to be offered by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in a massive Coaches’ skill empowerment drive.
The latest of the courses was the CAF D coaching licence course that was sponsored by MOFA and conducted by the FKF lead Instructor Francis Kimanzi assisted by coach instructor Wilson Omondi Aol in Homabay County organised by FKF and that came to a close this week during a ceremony that was also graced by MOFA founder, Harambee Stars Captain Michael Olunga.
MOFA FC assistant coach Joseph Odhiambo who graduated with the CAF D licence at the course said that the new-found knowledge and expertise that he has gained from the course will deepen his understanding of the game and improve his coaching techniques which will see him deliver an enhanced ability to support his players’ development,
“As an assistant coach at MOFA FC and a recent graduate of the CAF D coaching course, I am thrilled to apply my new-found knowledge and expertise to our team,” MOFA FC Assistant coach Joseph Odhiambo said.
“This course has deepened my understanding of the game, honed my coaching techniques, and enhanced my ability to support our players’ development. I am dedicated to helping our team excel on the field, fostering a positive team culture, and nurturing the talents of each individual player. Together, we will strive for greatness and make our mark in the world of football. I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to contribute to the success of MOFA FC,” Odhiambo added.
Football coach and Othoro Primary School teacher Rueben Abutoh was also a beneficiary of the CAF D Course. According to Abutoh, who is now a newly graduated CAF D football coach in Homabay County, this coaching course has equipped him with the skills and knowledge to inspire young players and help them develop both on and off the field, gelling his passion for education and football together.
“As a primary school teacher and a newly graduated CAF D football coach from Homabay County, I am excited to bring my passion for education and football together. This coaching course has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to inspire young players and help them develop both on and off the field,” Abutoh said.
“I believe that sports can be a powerful tool for building character, teamwork, and resilience in our students. I am therefore eager to share my expertise with my school community and create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Together, we can unlock the potential of our young talents and foster a love for the beautiful game,” Abutoh emphasised.
The MOFA Academy which sponsored the course is working on nurturing talent in the region and is currently in partnership deals with school games football giants Agare Sare School in Homabay County and St Mary’s School Yala in Siaya County and Kisumu Day in Kisumu County as a first move towards more such partnerships with other schools.
