In a strategic move aimed at securing political dominance, Cleophas Malala, the Secretary General of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, has launched an ambitious campaign to expand party membership across the country. Since assuming the role as the President’s party Chief Executive, Malala has embarked on an aggressive charm offensive, tirelessly advocating for the growth of the party that propelled President William Ruto to victory in the August 9th, 2022 general elections.

Over the course of a few months, Malala has crisscrossed the nation, tirelessly promoting the party and rallying support from various regions. From Homabay to Kakamega, Embu to Isiolo, and numerous other parts of the country, Malala has assumed his party responsibilities with unwavering dedication, aiming to make UDA the largest party in the nation.

The most recent addition to UDA’s ranks under Malala’s leadership is the former Kesses constituency MP, Dr. Mishra Kiprop Swarup. Leading a prominent delegation of Kenyan Asian Community leaders, Dr. Swarup and his supporters joined the UDA party, citing a shared vision for the country’s development agenda. Previously a candidate of the Jubilee party, Dr. Swarup acknowledged the growing UDA wave that swept across the nation, resulting in his defeat.

Undeterred by any barriers, Malala continues to forge ahead with his massive recruitment drive, as UDA aims to enlist over 15 million members. The charismatic party Secretary General, in collaboration with the party chairperson, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, and Vice Chairman Hassan Omar, is determined to solidify the party’s presence at the grassroots level. Their collective leadership envisions UDA as a political force with a formidable membership base of 15 million by 2027. Malala expressed the party’s conviction in winning every election, relying on the strength of its membership.

Under Malala’s stewardship, UDA has successfully welcomed prominent figures into its fold, including former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, former Laisamis MP Musa Arbelle, and former Marsabit senatorial aspirant Alice Kureya, all within the span of a week. Backed by the national executive council, Malala and his team have devised comprehensive strategies to solidify the party’s foundation nationwide. His efforts have encompassed extensive tours across the country, ensuring UDA’s message resonates with the people and effectively propelling the ongoing party popularization and recruitment drive.

The expansionist approach spearheaded by Cleophas Malala reflects UDA’s determination to position itself as the dominant political force in Kenya. The party’s ambition to achieve a membership of 15 million within the next few years demonstrates their unwavering commitment to success. With an impressive lineup of influential figures joining their ranks, UDA is making a bold statement to its rivals, indicating their unwavering dedication to shaping the country’s political landscape.

As the UDA party continues to gain momentum under Malala’s passionate leadership, it remains to be seen how this aggressive expansion drive will translate into electoral success. Nonetheless, the party’s strategic maneuvers and relentless efforts to attract a massive membership base demand attention and acknowledgment. If they succeed in their pursuit, UDA could reshape the political narrative in Kenya and set the stage for a new era of governance driven by their progressive vision.
