LG Electronics (LG) East Africa have officially completed and handed over two community projects developed by the winners of the 2025 LG Ambassador Challenge.

The first winner, DECIP Children’s Home, provides food and shelter for orphaned and abandoned children in Nairobi’s Dagoretti Corner area. With the funds, they built a strong structure that serves as both a tank tower and a water processing room, accommodating four 10,000-litre tanks and significantly boosting their water storage capacity. While awaiting certification from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to sell water directly, they are currently supplying it through licensed distributors.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Felistar Wangui, Director at DECIP Children’s Home said: “This award has helped us take an important step towards self-sufficiency. The water project will not only support the orphanage but also benefit the wider community once it is fully operational. We are grateful to LG for their generous grant and for standing with us in this journey.”

Rebirth of a Queen, the second winner, is a survivor-led community-based organization that supports survivors of gender based and sexual violence and human trafficking. Based in Kiserian, Kajiado County, the CBO provides opportunities for economic empowerment, mental health support, education, a safe house, and helping survivors find their voices through storytelling. They used the grant to acquire new sewing equipment to increase the capacity and effectiveness of their fashion and design training program.

“Our trainees are really going to benefit from this upgrade, and the impact will be felt through the entire community as more young women will get the skills they need to earn a living and contribute to building their community.” said Pauline Akinyi, Founder of Rebirth of a Queen.

On their part, Jane Kariuki, Regional Head of Marketing, commended the projects and pledged the company’s continued support for community initiatives through the LG Ambassador Challenge.

“We are proud to see the LG Ambassador Challenge making a real difference on the ground. The successful completion of these two projects is a testament to the resilience of Kenyan communities and the uniting drive to make life better for everyone. By supporting initiatives that improve everyday lives, we are reaffirming LG’s commitment to being a trusted partner for Kenyans,” said Ms. Kariuki.

The LG Ambassador Challenge is an annual initiative that invites applicants to submit their proposals of impactful community projects with the opportunity for two projects to win KES. 1 million. So far, the challenge has awarded KES. 13 million to impactful projects that create sustainable solutions for communities.

In addition to the LG Ambassador Challenge, LG East Africa runs a variety of other corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives focused on environmental protection and education. The company has also been involved in providing critical infrastructure such as electronics and boreholes to hospitals, schools, and other community institutions, helping to improve the region’s overall well-being.
