Kariobangi South/Uhuru ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Robert Mbatia was host to President William Ruto, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, and a host of Nairobi MP’s and  MCAs in Uhuru ward during a development inspection tour of the area on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
President Ruto lauded the development steps taken by Mbatia and the county government of Nairobi in changing the area, developing infrastructure calling on other MCAs to emulate Mbatia in initiating real development in various other areas of Nairobi.
Mbatia on his part called on President Ruto to consider the development of the affordable housing program in Uhuru estate where he noted the county government will provide land asking that the residents of Embakasi west are accorded the first priority to purchase the houses with a payment plan set in place.
The President inspected the Uhuru Sports Complex Stadium in  Embakasi West recording his satisfaction with the project as he lauded MCA Mbayia and the Nairobi County Government under the leadership of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for the construction of the sports facility in Eastlands.
“I am very impressed with the construction of the Uhuru Sports complex. Congratulations to MCA Mbatia and Governor Sakaja for doing this great stadium. It is a very impressive facility that is helping the young people around this area devep their sporting talents,” President Ruto said.
The President alongside Sakaja and Makadara MP George Aladwa and tens of MCAs had attended church service in Makadara constituency before going on to check on development projects in Makadara and Embakasi West constituencies.
Speaking after inspecting the Jogoo road affordable  project which has been embroiled in ownership controversy, President Ruto promised to ensure the residents are given priority in the allocation once the project is complete.
“The Affordable housing Jogoo Road Phase 1 Project that will accord residents decent and dignified shelter is well on course. We have more than 200 similar projects across the country. Their completion will guarantee Kenyans especially low-income earners secure and affordable housing,” President Ruto said.
Mbatia and Aladwa implored on the President to ensure that residents are not inhumanly evicted to create way for the construction of houses and those around are given priority in allocation of houses. There has been controversy with eviction process.
Governor Sakaja encouraged Nairobi residents and in particular, county government employees to sign up to the affordable housing program and start making their payments noting that the County Government is ready to craft a payment plan for it’s employees towards their home ownership dream.
“As a country we need to provide a decent housing for our people and my administration in Nairobi will make a formula where people can pay for their houses in a well planned payment plan so that they too can eventually be proud home owners,”Sakaja said.
