Makadara Member of Parliament, George Aladwa, has been dramatically removed from his position within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) County Chairs Council, following serious allegations of bribery and fraudulent activities during the party’s ongoing grassroots elections. Kakamega Governor, Fernandez Barasa, has been appointed as his replacement.
The decision to dismiss Aladwa came after an internal investigation revealed that he had allegedly defrauded numerous politicians by promising to manipulate delegate selection in their favor. According to sources within the ODM, Aladwa purportedly collected substantial sums of money, falsely claiming he could secure desired outcomes in the electoral process.
“Aladwa collected millions of shillings from politicians, asserting his ability to deliver their desired delegates,” stated a party official. “The ODM Party will not tolerate these cartels, and we insist that any misbehavior will be met with equal force.”
The alleged victims of Aladwa’s scheme include several Nairobi ODM Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies (MCAs).
“We have a comprehensive list, spanning from Dagoreti to Embakasi East, detailing the amounts he collected from MPs and MCAs in Nairobi,” revealed the source.
The ODM party has emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its internal elections and has vowed to take stringent action against any individuals found engaging in corrupt practices. The removal of Aladwa underscores the party’s determination to uphold transparency and fairness in its electoral processes. This development has sent shockwaves through the political landscape and placed a spotlight on the ongoing grassroots elections.
