Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo is facing serious allegations of using his power to detain his wife and 20-year-old son at Runda Police Station in Nairobi. Reports emerging today indicate that Habiba Guyo, the Governor’s wife, and their son were apprehended by plainclothes police officers based at the station earlier this morning, allegedly on the Governor’s direct orders.
The reasons behind the detention remain unclear, sparking outrage and concern from Habiba Guyo’s family. “They were picked today morning after the Governor ordered so,” a family member stated. “Till this moment, we don’t have any information about their offences, and the officers have insisted we consult the Governor. What impunity!”

Sources close to the family expressed deep distress and confusion over the incident. The family claims they have been denied information regarding the alleged offenses and the legal basis for the detention.
An anonymous police officer at Runda Police Station confirmed to the media that the Governor’s wife and son are indeed being held at the facility. “Wako ndani Gavana ndio alipiga simu washikwe. Sisi ni amri tunafuata,” the officer stated, which translates to “They are inside. The Governor is the one who called for their arrest. We are just following orders.” The officer further indicated that the Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) is currently in charge of the matter.
The incident has raised serious questions about the Governor’s conduct and the potential abuse of power. Attempts to reach Governor Abdi Guyo for comment have so far been unsuccessful. The detention of his family members for undisclosed reasons is likely to draw significant public and legal scrutiny.
