New details have emerged surrounding an alleged attack on Kitusuru Ward MCA, Palapala, in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD). Sources claim the incident is linked to accusations of fraudulent dealings with private developers who have provided services to the Nairobi County government.
According to reports, Palapala has allegedly been soliciting large sums of money from contractors in exchange for pushing their pending payments through the county assembly. As the chairperson of the Planning Committee, he is accused of using his position to strike deals with private developers with promise to help them seek building approvals, in return the money lover mca fail to fulfill his promises.
A fellow MCA, speaking anonymously, revealed, “Palapala frequently meets contractors and demands substantial amounts to facilitate their payments and building approvals,If county finance officers hesitate, he threatens them with removal from office.”
It is further alleged that during the 2024 Christmas holidays, Palapala traveled to Dubai on a trip sponsored by a contractor as part of a deal to secure payment for pending bills. However, after failing to influence the finance offices and Governor Johnson Sakaja’s team to release the funds, Palapala reportedly resorted to threats of initiating impeachment proceedings against the governor.
When his threats failed to yield results, Palapala allegedly staged an attack in the CBD, claiming he was assaulted by goons linked to Governor Sakaja. He later sought treatment for injuries to his head, face, and right hand and obtained a P3 form to support his claims.
In a press conference held on January 14, 2025, Palapala accused Governor Sakaja of orchestrating the attack, framing it as retaliation for his oversight role in the county. However, insiders allege the press conference was a ploy to gain sympathy and pressure the governor into facilitating the contractor’s payment.
The incident has raised questions about Palapala’s integrity, this comes after the journalists’ asked him to prove that indeed he was injured.
