A Kenyan working in diaspora has cautioned potential buyers against purchasing housing units from Ameey Homes’ development at Taza Lane 209/7549 off City Park Drive, citing multiple legal issues.
The construction has been plagued with several legal questions, many of which are still pending in court and buying such a property may lead to huge losses.
The developers have allegedly snubbed court orders halting construction and have threatened activists and neighbors protesting against the development.
Key illegalities cited include failure to adhere to legal standards before and during construction, nighttime construction causing noise pollution, use of unqualified architects, and structural concerns such as visible cracks on main pillars, which pose significant risks to future residents and neighboring properties.
An immediate neighbor expressed concerns about the project, stating, “Ameey Homes’ project along Taza Lane plot number LR 209/7549 violates citizens’ rights to a clean and healthy environment. The developer has bribed various agencies inspecting the illegal development, which is why the National Environmental Management Authority has not addressed the proliferation of illegal construction projects in the neighborhood.”
The neighbor also noted that the developer lacks original permits from the necessary authorities.
“We urge all interested parties not to risk buying a housing unit from Ameey Homes at LR 209/7549, known as Hillside Gardens, along Taza Lane, off City Park Drive in Parklands, Nairobi County, as the building is involved in an active court case that may lead to its demolition,” added a representative of the residents.
