Busia Governor Paul Otuoma is clashing with the ODM party, claiming he has been sidelined in key party activities within Busia County.
Otuoma has warned that if the ODM party does not cease its activities in his county, he will consider quitting.
Otuoma expressed his frustration, stating he will not tolerate political humiliation from Nairobi politicians who have encroached on Busia County.
“My deputy leader, please stop the political shenanigans that are going on in this county. We shall not allow that to happen. If you can’t listen, then we shall leave this party,” Otuoma told the ODM Party while addressing Budalangi residents.
“It’s only good to be where your efforts are seen, but for now it seems ODM wants to do their things independently without my input. I am the governor and must be recognized too,” he added.
The governor’s dissatisfaction has grown due to Nairobi Majority Leader Peter Imwatok’s ODM registration campaigns in Teso and Busia town.
In response, some ODM supporters in Amagoro have dismissed Otuoma’s threats.
“Atoke akwende kama hataki kukaa kwa chama. Imwatok is a leader like him and he has not declared his interest in Busia, so why panic?” said Samuel Emusala, an Amagoro ODM supporter.
