Byron Ochieng earns maiden Harambee Stars call up

Sofapaka FC right-back Byron Ochieng has earned his first ever call-up to the national team Harambee Stars.

This is the first time that the youngster is making a cut to the senior team after previous appearance in the junior ranks.

The Sofapaka man has seen a consistent steady rise in his football career in the last six months having been part of the Kenya Under 18 squad which represented the country at the 2023 CECAFA Junior Championships that were held in Kakamega in December, 2023.

Earlier this year, Byron was part of the Kenya Under 20 team which represented the country at the four nations tournament in Malawi which Kenya recorded an emphatic triumph.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat included the right back in his squad that is set to play in FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast in Malawi this week.
He is expected to link up with the stars squad today, Tuesday.

Stars play Burundi on June 7 before meeting the African champions on June 11 at the National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi.
