Nairobi Deputy Majority Leader Kaende Joins Kalonzo to Host Mt Kenya Region

By Shadrack Nyakoe

The Nairobi County Assembly Deputy Majority Leader, John Ndile Musila, popularly known as Kaende, accompanied Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday to host elders from the Mt. Kenya region at the party headquarters. The elders were presenting the report and resolutions from the Limuru III Conference held earlier this month.

During the event, Kalonzo highlighted the importance of the Limuru III Conference, which celebrated cultural diversity and constructive dialogue. He stressed the need to embrace Kenya’s unique identities despite the challenges and aspirations faced by the nation. Kalonzo also criticized recent finance bills, stating that they impose heavy burdens on citizens without adequate service delivery.

“We should promote our unique and diverse identities, regardless of the challenges and aspirations that make the great nation of Kenya. For the third year running, Kenyans have been introduced to Finance Bills (then Acts) that break the body and task its soul. The people’s recommendations via public participation last year were abundantly clear: ‘No more arbitrary taxation without commensurate service delivery,'” Kalonzo said.

Kaende, who represents Laini Saba Ward, urged unity within the Mt. Kenya region to drive its success and development. He criticized the 2024/2025 finance bill as oppressive, particularly to the ‘hustlers’ who supported the current government.

“The Finance Bill has become more retrogressive and punitive; targeting the very people that it said was at its heart. From bread to M-PESA transactions and motor vehicle taxes, their avaricious appetite speaks to their callousness and inhumanity. The ‘Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)’ antonym has been replaced by the ‘State-Capture’ verb,” said Hon. Kaende.
