Niarobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has offered to assist stranded students with paying their fare back home after the government announced the extension of school opening day bu a week.
In a circular issued by Education Cabinet Secretary Sunday night, all schools will now open on Monday 6th May following an extension that Machogu said was occasioned by the heavy rains being witnessed in the country.
Students were this morning seen stranded after learning that they would not open school after all and Governor Sakaja offered some help. Sakaja has directed his officers to visit all bus stages and pay fare for all stranded students back home after CS Machogu’s Directive.
“I have seen picture of several students stranded in Nairobi after school opening date was postponed. I will pay their fare back home,” Sakaja announced.
“Following the postponement of School Opening Dates and the fact that many parents had already released their children to report to school this morning, I walked into the city and paid the return fare for the stranded students. My teams are in various bus stations and termini sorting out the students in uniform who need assistance.”Governor Sakaja said.
The county boss immediately dispatched a team to look out for any stranded students and facilitate their transport back home.
