Wezesha Youth Initiative launches the 2nd Edition of Mr & Miss Tranquility, a national pageant featuring 51 contestants from across the country. The theme revolves around Cultural and Heritage Tourism as a catalyst for sustainable peace, development, and topical discussions. The competition evaluates talent, intelligence, personality, and current issues.
Established in 2018, Wezesha Youth Initiative empowers young people, women, and children. With a board overseeing operations and working groups in 12 counties, our organization boasts 1585 members nationwide, garnering a strong youth following.
According to CEO Paul Victor, Tranquility was born out of the aim to contribute to peaceful elections. The inaugural Mr. & Miss Tranquility, conducted in partnership with the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), attracted over 700 youth and stakeholders nationwide. Victor Paul emphasized the use of fashion to promote peace, stability, and tourism.
Maryanne Kilanga, the project manager at Wezesha, highlighted the responsibilities of the crowned winners, including engagement in peace-building projects and the promotion of tourism in the country. Kilanga emphasized the concept of peace tourism, stating that traveling and experiencing diverse cultures fosters mutual understanding, tolerance, national integration, compassion, and educational standards, ultimately promoting peace and mutual respect.
