Gaming company Bang Bet has proudly announced its sponsorship of rally drivers Gerald Maina and John Ngugi in the upcoming World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place in Nakuru County from June 22nd to June 25th, 2023.
Bang Bet CEO Leonardo Varese expressed the company’s intention to support and nurture local talent in the rally field. Recognizing the high costs associated with the sport, Varese stated that they were seeking individuals with passion and drive, who may not have all the necessary resources but could benefit from a boost. Gerald Maina and John Ngugi were deemed the perfect fit for the sponsorship program.
Navigator John Ngugi conveyed his appreciation to Bang Bet, emphasizing his determination to deliver a strong performance in the upcoming WRC Safari Rally. Recognizing the financial challenges in motorsport, Ngugi expressed gratitude for Bang Bet’s trust in their abilities and pledged to prove their worth on the track.
Ngugi has upgraded from a Mitsubishi Evo 9 to a Subaru Impreza N16, formerly owned by Don Smith, aiming to surpass last year’s 5th place finish. Meanwhile, Gerald Maina will be driving a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and participating in the Safari Rally for the first time since its reinstatement into the WRC calendar.
Maina expressed his excitement about Bang Bet’s sponsorship, highlighting how the company’s support had revitalized their preparations. He explained that prior to the sponsorship, they had little hope of securing financial backing, making Bang Bet’s involvement a source of great joy for their team.
The upcoming WRC Safari Rally marks the 70th edition of the World Rally Championship, and Bang Bet’s sponsorship of Gerald Maina and John Ngugi demonstrates their commitment to supporting local talent in the demanding sport of rally driving.
