The Nairobi county social audit network has ranked the current Nairobi county assembly speaker hon. Kennedy ngondi as a top performer since the new county government led by governor Johnson sakaja took oath of office on December 2022 to April 2023,the scorecard was based on a period of three months.
According to the audit network chairperson Mr. Edward muito, the findings were based on an audit report done in the following four strategic and significant performance indicators that is the legislative role, oversight, cohesion, diversity and gender balance lastly public participation. In each of these key areas he scored an average score of 8 out 10, these was attributed to the ability of the speaker to create a good working rapport with both the majority and minority groups in the house, protection of devolution, ensuring ethnic diversity in terms of employment and also ensuring there is public participation in matters of running the assembly.
Mr.muito further stated that in the recent regimes, the county assembly has been marred with chaos and wrangles but since the current speaker hon. ngondi took office he has adopted a bi partisan approach to be used in the assembly structures to ensure that bills, laws and policy pass through. The speakers gallery is ever packed and busy as sessions in the floor take place actively, the social media and sessions viewing is also made public and open to the general public he says,Mr.muito also urged the citizens in Nairobi county to continue being active in participating in their own governance and service delivery.
