The Nairobi social audit network has released a score card on the performance of the county government of Nairobi rating it on a scorecard of 8 out of 10 in its first three months since the new county government took oath of office. According to its chairman Mr. Edward githaiga he said that this was achieved through the well-organized leadership of H.E Johnson sakaja through his open door leadership policy whereby he involves the business community, the youth, women and persons living with disability through the governors public participation mechanism. He also indicated that the governor’s bi partisan approach to issues affecting the county will create working formulas hence creating stabilized operations going forward.
Speaking at a press conference in a Nairobi hotel, the chairman of the Nairobi social audit network said that despite the challenges faced by the Nairobi county government, governor sakaja has ensured that county development plans have gone ahead without any hitches. He further pointed out that the budget processes and development plans all the way to the ward levels of governance as among the biggest gains for the county, in terms of social impact delivery mr.githaiga stressed that the county government had been socially impactful on the decongestion of the CBD, management of the health facilities, ECDS, Sports, creative economy, environmental conservation and revenue collection. “under the administration of governor sakaja we have witnessed installations of modern equipment at various county health facilities, new coolers at the city mortuary,re-carpeting of county road network, construction of sports facilities, and support to the creative industry among other development initiatives “he stated. Mr. githaiga further said that while other counties are grappling with the issues of salary delayment, the county government has been paying its workers on time, this is owed to the upward revenue collection.mr githaiga also said that this social audit network is a way of measuring,understanding,reporting and ultimately improving the Nairobi city county government socio economic performance.
